DJ Frank Richards, a native of Las Vegas, Nevada, has been DJ’ing and promoting House Music events in Las Vegas dating back to 1992; and has been a major force for what Vegas nightlife has become today. Inspired by the love of House Music by DJ’s such as Doc Martin, Garth, Jeno, Thomas, Harvey, Joe Claussel, Francois Kevorkian, Robert Owens, Chez Damier, DJ Pierre, Satoshi Tomiie, Masters at Work, Mark Farina and Kenny Hawkes. Richards is a local favorite and is considered one of the most successful and influential House DJ’s working in Las Vegas today. Over the past 18 years, Richards has held exclusive residencies and music director positions at the infamous Club Utopia, Red Dragon at China Grill at Mandalay Bay Resort, Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel Pool, ICE Meta Club and a 4.5 year residency at one of the world’s most elite and sought out nightclubs on the planet, “PURE” at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas. Hereafter, Frank’s 6 to 8 hour sets at 3 times a week became legendary and he quickly became one of the most sought out DJ’s in Las Vegas.
Richards has attracted both old and new club-goers alike over the last 18 years gigging around Las Vegas. Creator of “Patio Sessions” a brand he started back in 1997 at Club Utopia that has been carried on from one generation to the next. Here you will find DJ’s playing an eclectic mix of Deep and Tech House, Space Disco and Classic House, keeping dance floors grooving well into the early morning. But Richards isn’t limited to Las Vegas —over the span of his DJ career, he’s been invited to gig at special events and cities such as Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Panama, Bangkok, Ko Samui, Phuket, Jakarta, Manila, Cebu Fiji, Honolulu, Mexico, London, Miami, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Denver, San Diego, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and his home base, Las Vegas. Including special guest appearances at Ministry of Sound, Space Lab Yellow Tokyo, Q Bar Bangkok, London Turnmills, Cebu at Vudu, Stereo Lab Phuket, Embassy Jakarta, Paul Oakenfold’s “Perfecto” The Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas, Space Ibiza on Tour, Jakarta Music Festival, Soundbar, Godskitchen, Angel Music Group, Naked LA, Afterhour-Power, Giant LA, The Love Festival, Go Ventures, 2nd Sunday San Francisco and Saturday Night Sessions L.A.
In May of 2008, Frank was invited to play at the final party of Ko Kimura’s “KOOL” at Tokyo’s legendary nightclub, “SPACE LAB YELLOW”. It was an honor for Frank to play along side Japan’s own DJ Ko Kimura, who is the most influential House DJ’s in Japan. Hands down this was Frank’s most honored booking to date. In 2009 Richards was invited to play in Panama at the Ministry of Sound Halloween Party along side Antoine Clamaran at Club Velvet. Which ranks up there as one of his most honored bookings as well. Richards has spent a lot of time gigging the last 6 years between the USA and Asia, promoting his label and previous CD’s as, Live in Hong Kong and “Q Bar Bangkok”, “a deep and seductive mix which perfectly rides that fine line between home listening and dance floor energy” (Denis Hemakom, Q Bar Bangkok).
After his Asian South Pacific tour in early 2010, Richards has chosen a limited schedule and has taken a much-needed break of extensive travels and the reigns of the Vegas nightlife. Richards being a studio engineer and producer has turned to the studio and is the creative force behind HiSoL Recordings, an independent label he runs along side his partner, Sotero Garcia. Over the last decade, HiSoL has had several releases as “What U Need” feat Ion, Spirit of the Council, The Heart, Muddy Waters and The Vibe, which was licensed by Global Underground #23 for James Lavelle Barcelona CD. New material will be released worldwide in March at WMC Miami. All under the alias “HiSoL”, who are Frank Richards and Sotero Garcia.
2011 is shaping up to be a prosperous year for Richards, in May he will be heading back overseas performing in Asia to promote his new album, Angkor Watt on HiSoL along with his highly anticipated 2X CD “TOKYO” in tribute to SPACE LAB YELLOW TOKYO; which he co-created with Japan’s own, KO KIMURA. Expect the most cutting-edge sounds from around the globe mixed by Ko Kimura and Frank Richards! Over the span of Richards career, he has played along side the most respected DJ’s on the planet.
